for our '15 428xi, after the warranty was up, it has cost about $1500 annually. Brakes, filters and fluid changed tend to be $99-$199 about every 6 months. Front lower control arms (leaking bushing fluid) were $1800. Front brake change was $1200. Rear brake change was about the same.

Full Comprehensive service / maintenance history: A4 ring binder of every receipt since 2008 (£1000s spent throughout the history of the vehicle). Vehicle has been serviced every 2 years (BMW service history up to 41k miles). Regular brake fluid and air conditioning services.
For example, the local BMW dealership wanted $400 to do an oil change for my E60 550i. I found a reliable certified BMW shop that does it for about $180. Keep in mind, if when things break, things can get expensive quickly. 8/10 times my BMW is in the shop, the bill is easily over $1,000. 180 for an oil change!
Nice review. I toyed with the idea of buying a 340 instead of the 330i. I would definitely like the power, however, I'm putting about 25K miles a year on my current BMW for my work commute. Seemed criminal to buy the 340 or M3 and then rack up mileage on it. So far I've been happy with the 330i.
